How to

How to save recipes from Instagram

You saved the Reel. It went into a folder with three hundred others. You have not cooked a single one of them.

Saving was never the problem — Instagram is very good at saving. The problem is that a Reel is not a recipe. There are no quantities you can shop from, no steps you can follow with wet hands, and no way to find it again three weeks later except by scrolling. This page shows how to turn one into something you can cook from.

Step by step

  1. Open the Reel and tap Share

In Instagram, tap the paper-plane share icon under the Reel. This is the same button you would use to send it to a friend.

  2. Choose Wrap from the share sheet

Wrap appears alongside Messages and Mail. If you do not see it, scroll the app row and tap More, then switch Wrap on.

  3. Wait about fifteen seconds

Wrap reads the post and builds the recipe. You can close Instagram and carry on — the import finishes in the background and Wrap tells you when it is done.

  4. Cook from the card

You get an ingredient list you can tick through and steps sized for a phone propped against a bag of flour. Cook mode keeps the screen awake.

Questions

Does this work with regular posts, or only Reels?

Both. Carousel posts where the recipe is in the caption work well, and often better than video, because the text is already there.

Do I need to connect my Instagram account?

No. Wrap never asks for your Instagram login and has no access to your account. It reads the public post you shared to it.

The caption says "full recipe below" and there is nothing below. What then?

That is the case Wrap was built for. It falls back to the voiceover and then to the on-screen text, so a Reel with no written recipe at all can still come out as a usable card.

Does the creator know I saved their recipe?

No. Importing is private to you. Wrap keeps a link back to the original post so you can return to it and give the creator the view.

Can I edit the recipe afterwards?

Yes. Every field is editable, and you can copy the whole recipe to your clipboard as plain text. It is your recipe — it is not locked inside the app.
